When a web site is first put on the internet, the only people who know that it is there are the creator and maybe his or her family and friends. That is not that many people no matter how big of a group your inner circle is. So to get more people to notice your site you must start to promote it. When it comes to getting a site noticed on the internet, there are many ways that you can promote it. You can use direct ads. This means that you put an ad on a web site that might be a competitor of yours to try and get some of the people who go to their site to come to yours. Another way to get promotion to your web site is to use other ad methods such as PPC, which stands for pay per click. This is the type of ads that Google uses. This means that you pay whenever someone clicks on your ad. Then there is the final promotion type that we will focus on, which is SEO. SEO can be easy to learn but difficult to implement. So we will walk you through a few steps that will give you a basis on what you should do to get your SEO campaign started.

What is SEO?
Before we get into a little more of what you should know about the finer points of SEO, we should actually tell you what SEO is. It doesn't make sense explaining to you about what you should know about a topic before you know what the topic is. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It allows you to get your site in a good position on some of the more popular search engines on the market. This includes Google, Bing and others. There are certain little things that the search engines look for when it comes to a web site and when you follow SEO rules, you make sure that your site has these little things. And that is what the rest of the article is about. Making sure you know the basics of SEO.

What you should know
Now that we have gotten the definition of SEO out of the way, here is the first thing that you should know, back links are very important. A search engine takes a lot of things into consideration but the one thing that it takes most into consideration is how many back links does your web site have. A back link is a link that is coming to your web site from another site. After back links, the second most important thing when it comes to SEO is where your links are coming from. If you do not have relevant content from where the links are coming from then Google and the other search engines will discount them. So for your links to count more, the link must be coming from a web page with similar topics that you write about on your web site. The last thing when it comes to the basics of SEO that we think that you should know about is keywords. The keywords of a web site are very important. It's how the search engines decide what the topic of your web site is. So to make sure that your web site is getting the visitors that you want it to you must have the proper keywords applied.

Knowing what you need to make sure that your web site has the proper SEO techniques is very important.
