There is absolutely no reason to be intimidated by search engine optimization. Although it takes time to learn, it is not difficult to understand. There are a number of webmasters that are intimidated by the search engines and find it difficult to implement their marketing strategies. That is not necessary as it only requires time, effort, and some simple computer knowledge to get this done.

Once you begin to fully understand search engine optimization you will realize just how much potential the Internet actually has to grow your business. The most important factor with search engine optimization is the understanding that it takes much more than being listed in the search and to be found, you must actually be located on the first page.

The reason that search engine optimization strategies are so important is that most Internet users will not travel past the second page in the search. Of course you always have the option to incorporate the use of Google ads within your marketing strategies. But understand that the search engine results that are found to the left will always get more traffic than the ones that are found to the right. Therefore, ultimately good search engine positioning is much more beneficial than simply purchasing ads.

The truth is, if you can land your site on the first page of Google with phrases that your target audience is actually searching for, you can begin to notice increased profits for your website. As mentioned, it's not that difficult to understand. There are three factors to implement with search engine optimization:

1. Proper keyword research - always optimize your website with keywords that your target audience are actually searching for. There are a number of free tools available to help you perform this research. These tools will also educate you on competition concerning those exact words.

2. Use your keywords properly - whenever you are creating content on your website it is important to incorporate your keywords within the content. This includes keyword usage in title tags, meta-descriptions, and throughout the actual content. Always use keywords within these sections to make sure a search engine can understand what your page is about.

3. Webpage Popularity - the truth is, on the internet, popularity is extremely important. Each back link you create that points to your website counts as a vote for you. Thus, he who has the most votes wins. It is not difficult to achieve good quality back links; back links can be achieved through article marketing, blog commenting, social bookmarking, and through social media optimization.
