If you simply shop around for a bit looking for web hosting; you will find web hosting plans of two major types, paid ones and the free ones. People often get confused on which one to go for; it can consume a lot of time in making up your mind that whether to go with free or paid web hosting. In order to save your time, below are a few things you can consider about both types of hosting and then go with the one you feel satisfied about.

Firstly, you need to consider that what the actual purpose of your site is. Although getting free web hosting might get the job done but that purpose might not be achieved completely. Free web hosting carries a few disadvantages and biggest one being that your site's name would be having the hosts name associated to it. Your website's name would look something like www.free webhosting.sitename.com! People who do not really have serious or big online businesses might be fine with this aspect of free web hosting while others don't. It depends on what type of an image you want your site to create for you and your business over the web through its name.

Compared to paid hosting, free hosting would also be carrying very limited features and resources. This would mean that you will have lesser bandwidth, lesser disk space, lesser applications, etc. People who plan on having huge websites where tons of data and files can be found should always go for paid hosting services. Such big sites having free web hosting might really disappoint the visitors since they won't work properly and also take forever to upload and open. Your site needs to be working perfectly and not down at any time if you want to earn some respect and reputation.

Features such as MySQL, Perl, PHP, etc do not come along with free web hosting plans. This is not even their fault, when you are not paying anything for the services; this is what you will get. Free web hosting might work great with the new comers or teenagers who like to start their websites. However, people who are professionals having serious businesses should not go with free hosting.

So, I guess that now you would be able to make up your mind that whether to go with free web hosting or paid web hosting.
