There are some affiliate links that people are hesitant to click on. They ma resemble spamming links or might not be very appealing to the client. Sometimes it can be a security issue where people do not feel safe or ignorance is often the case. Some people simply hover their mouse over the link to see what kind of information it has and then type in the URL directly into the address bar or simply search for the company in a search engine.

It is important to protect your commission that your earn from links and there are a number of software packages available that will help you. They range from $15 to $50 and they range in effectiveness and features so you should research what you need and go from there so that the software you buy fits your requirements.

One can also install a banner server that helps you display textual links as well. The link coding tends to be fairly long and complex so the visitor would not be able to see it in the status bar. It is effective if you have many associations. Not so if you only have a few.

Click tracking software and scripts will also hid the target URL so that the user cannot see the URL when he or she clicks on an affiliated link. After he or she has clicked on it, the visitor is then redirected to the URL specified in the script. It also is an excellent resource if you want to monitor the effectiveness it has on your adverts.

JavaScript link cloaking is a method used to help not lose visitors from your site. It hides certain information in the status bar and when the visitor arrives on the merchant site, the cookie linked to the ID of the affiliate is present therefore connecting the click with the affiliate. It is not 100% perfect and some links still may show the full URL in the status bar but at least the cookie connection is there.

There are also certain HTML functions that one can carry out in order to hide or show certain things. They can help automatically redirect someone to your affiliate link. Try not to use search engine robots as this is seen as a spamming method by popular search engines. Therefore try to have your links in one directory and cloak all the affiliate links.

With these few simple steps, one can be sure to protect the earnings that one generates from affiliate links and therefore keep a good client base without any interference from spamming or security issues and the like.
