Target Marketing SEO for the Online Entrepreneur

Having a good product or service does not necessarily ensure entrepreneurial success. A critical part of the business equation is having as well the customers who are willing to buy such products or services. The idea of target marketing is to enable the entrepreneur to identify and reach out to customers. Not too long ago, the entrepreneur often resorted to off-line methods of communicating with the market at large, using traditional media such as print, outdoor, broadcast and direct mailers. While marketing strategists were already familiar with the finer techniques of target marketing, SEO was relatively unknown at that time.

With the advent of the Internet and PC ownership by a majority of the population, online marketing became the most popular means of communicating with the market. This technological development gave birth to literally millions of websites all over the world. Precisely because of its nature of being a global network of websites, competition in the Internet for customer attention and website visits is understandably fierce. Could target marketing SEO spell success for the online entrepreneur?

A website that offers a good product or service, but addressed to no one in particular has very little chance of being noticed in the global market, and can very well be considered as money down the drain. The concept of target marketing SEO was developed to focus website design and content towards the desired target market to ensure good search engine ranking, and translate website visits into actual sales for the business.

Target marketing SEO begins by identifying the customers and determining what they want. Pertinent information about the desired market segment like gender, civil status, and age, economic profile such as income and expenditure patterns, occupation and lifestyle must be gathered to draw a complete picture of the customer that the entrepreneur would like to pursue.

A good customer profile is necessary in crafting a more focused message to the target market that would lead to eventual sales. But this is going ahead of the story because after identifying the target market, two criteria must be fulfilled in composing the content. First of all, the content should be well-written and persuasive enough to convert the potential customer into a buyer, and secondly, it should be keyword-rich to ensure good search engine ranking. Keyword usage and placement must be made in such a way that they blend well with the flow of the message, yet remain unnoticed by the eyes of any reader untrained in the art of target marketing SEO.

Target marketing SEO involves a lot more work and skill than many people realize. A great deal of time, effort and patience would be needed in identifying the targeted market segment. And, a lot of skill would be necessary to produce focused, well-written and keyword rich content that would be loved by customers and search engines alike.
