Default Is submitting the sitemap to yahoo of any use?

I have found submitting my site’s sitemap to yahoo does little to get more pages listed, while in case of google it works wonderfully. Is it just me or have you noticed this as well?

Just be careful of putting a sitemap on an already established site. It helps a lot on a new site that you are just getting off the ground, but actually harms your SE placement if you put one on an already established site.

I've never submitted a sitemap to yahoo. I find they are the fastest at indexing my deeper pages than the other search engines.

To get indexed in google only takes me about 2 days for the home page, then it takes a while for the other pages. But yahoo seems to do all my pages at once.

MSN is another story

I think that submitting a sitemap to the search engine is always important because it helps the crawlers to index your site better. It basically tell the search spiders the structure of your site.
You should always have a sitemap.

Webmaster often overlook the necessity of sitemap . It helps visitors navigate the website. This is the reason why search engines give "premium" points to websites with sitemaps because they make site indexing much easier.

When i do make a sitemap for my webpage spiders visit my site often and crawl regularly so thats why i make it.By the way now yahoo and msn uses robots.txt to find where is sitemap itself. This is very new so

put this sitemap: "url that sitemap in"

In robots.txt to make msn and others crawl your site.

I am agreed with you and we should do this with much care. Things can boost your site or entirely push you down. Webmasters do their best to see their site on the top but it is very tiresome process.

You don't have to use a site map in order to get indexed if you have a good linking stucture on your website, but it doesn't hurt and can only help.

Yes, google has the biggest share, but YAHOO is still the most SEARCHED FOR TERM on the UK internet! So it is WELL worth doing.

The Yahoo indexing is slow no matter if you submit a sitemap or not.

How long it takes to get the sitemap indexed in Yahoo? If it's really effective, I would like to try it out too

yes, its worth to have and submit the sitemap to search engines. It really works for me. Some times SE's don't crawl you all pages and sitemap helps you to get all of your pages crawled.

Hi,

Submitting Sitemap to Google serves you in lot many ways as it get crawled by google bots and also sometime your site get ranks for this in the SERPS of the Google.

But, about yahoo, the sites do get crawled I think to get rank well.

I must check this out for my further knowledge.

Thanks!!
