Yes.
Many years ago people paid basically for impressions. Then it seemed like it was rip-off because they did not get much for their money. Then one of the search engines decided to try pay per click - basically saying it was more honest and fair because you were only paying advertising on those that really wanted to see your products - ie - those that clicked on your ads.
So yes, pay per click is buying advertising at the price determined for a click.

Hello ,
Actually these days when you say Pay Per Click , you understand two different categories !
1st - Adsense , Adbrite etc ..
2nd - Adbux
In the second option , they show you some advertisements and you must click them and you get 0.01$ , you dont need to have a website whereas in the first category , as a publisher you must have a website !
Thanks
Olgi

Pay per click (PPC) is an Internet advertising model used on search engines, advertising networks, and content websites, such as blogs, where advertisers only pay when a user actually clicks on an advertisement (ad) to visit the advertisers' website. Advertisers bid on keyword phrases relevant to their target market.

Pay per click basically means that instead of any other mechanisms like paying for a page impression you pay for the clicks. You put the banners and when your banners are clicked and if you are charged or paid on that basis then it is called pay per click basis.

Pay-Per-Click as the name implies is a method of advertising where advertisers pays for clicks generated by their ads.
You pay when someone clicks on your ad and an example of a good PPC ad network is Google Adwords.
