create a website

I want to start a small business and create my own website.
As far as using a computer is concerned, I can do the usual - e-mails, surfing,
Word etc, but I have no idea how to create a website. I'd be grateful if anyone could
give me a few pointers of where to start and what pitfalls to watch out for. Also, those of you are
familiar with this stuff, what do you think my chances of success are? Thanks!

Hi Timmio,

Its a big world! The best place to start would be basic html websites, or you could look at cms or blog systems like wordpress etc.

Create interactive web pages with content related to niche of your webiste and if possible try to create SEO friendly website for better results over search engine.

I would reccomend taking html templates and making them your own by editing code there are plenty of tutorials to look at online

You can get many tutorials on Google search. but w3c is best one and it's grat to start HTML.

Have you ever used any free blogs? If not, I suggest you start with using wordpress free blog. It can help you know some basic stuff about wordpress, for example, posting, layout changing and cpanel managine, etc. Then after you bome familiar with them, you can try build wordpress blog.

Website creation is not so difficult, you should learn basic HTML from w3schools and then take a free templates from any free website templates.Try to make changes in that template.You would be very successful if you can learn this because you can take projects online by sitting at home.

What kind of website or business do you wish to start. Is it is going to be a news site , e commerce website or what.
Get it developed by any web developer and you focus on product and marketing.
If you wish to learn coding then learn html and php. php is open source and lots of resources are available .

If you don't have any idea regarding the web design then this is a hard task for you.First you need to know what is web design.Then you have to know what is required for the web design.You need to update your self by the web design languages.You can also use the softwares like Dream weaver for your web site.But coding knowledge of HTML is required for the modification purpose.Otherwise you can go for the CMS.They are easier for you.

start learning html, google w3schools and start taking lessons, thats the first step towards web

There are actually several ways of doing it:

1. Learn HTML,CSS,PHP + Photoshop
2. Hire a webdesigner who will do it for you
3. Try some CMS like Wordpress or Joomla
4. Try website builder (there are a lot of them)

Install a free cms: joomla, wordpress, drupal.
Your chances ... how much time do you want to invest in it?

Judging by the "The group name could not be found." error, under the COnfiguration for the web server, can you find the IIS Users group and verify that it exists on the WSP Server running the web server?

Learning how to create a website is quite complex but Google have thousands of valuable resources to help you do it. But if you want to have a professional website it would be best if you will seek help from the experts in building a website.
