What is the difference between web design and graphic design?

Well, I'm getting closer and closer to graduating but I'm confused on what to take in college.i wanna be a web designer.what courses should i take. i wanna make the websites i make interactive attractive and great and also have fun doing it. but it looks like i should take both web designing and graphic design or what ever.

So, the difference is in that graphic design deals with designing graphically pleasing layouts. And you have to known all important concerns as to color theory, typefaces, relationship between design elements and just basic info how to make things.

And now about web designing. It requires many good graphic designer skills as well, in addition you have to learn how to write web pages, and probably you will start with learning HTML.

But still I think you should understand the difference between a webdesigner and a webdeveloper particularly. Perhaps you you meant that. Please, specify and will get clearer answer

boy these are much much different things.
following is the difference between them:
Graphic designig includes the designing softwares like Corel Draw, adobe photo shop,etc.
web designing includes PHP/html.

Design apply any management structure but Graphical Designing only on apply the interface designing.

Yes web designing is totally different thing where you apply your design into Html for website.

Graphic design is about logo design, business card brochures, flyer anything graphic, whereby web design focus more on website and all related issues around that. Hope it helps....

Graphic design includes logos and print design. Graphic Design includes anything in the world that you see that has been created and printed (or displayed as part of a layout). This can be ads, magazines, newspaper layouts, newspaper ads, billboards, logos, brochures, books, decals you find on toys, CD labels & booklets, movie posters, and so much more. It encompasses all things in the print world.

Web design overlaps graphic design in the graphics and overall appearance (layout) and flow of the site/pages, but web design also includes all the technical aspects of creating a website, such as the coding past basic layout.

Web Designing and graphic designing are same but some minor difference.

Graphic designing teacher can teach you how can you design a website in photo shop or fireworks.

But your web designer teacher can guide you how can you design a website and also how can you develop your website and how can you appear your website in internet.
If you want to start please start web designer course.

Graphic Design includes so many things like logo design and printing of the text and pictures. This includes Advertisements, CD lables and so on. But Web Design includes the sequence of the web pages and it also includes the coding and layouts.

I Think Web designing and Graphic designing both are different.
In the Graphic designing you may know Photoshop,coreldraw and some other software.
But in the web designing you have deep knowledge of HTML,CSS,java script.
