Thanks for the on site SEO stuff, it is important to note that with G at least 85% of your ranking depends on off page factors, mainly backlinks.
Make sure you have your on page stuff done, but there is no reason to agonize over it because it really isn't that important.

Text should be straight forward. We can include keywords for promotion in the text but not too much keywords should be used.
Alt and Title attributes : Alt and Title attributes of image and anchor tags should be set properly with short keywords to promote.
H1 tag: It should be included using keyword inside it wherever possible in the web-page for promotion.

On-Page Search Engine Optimization:-
1. Create unique, accurate Meta Tags specially page title :
Every page of your site should have its very own unique title that includes main keywords for that page. Search engines might use the ‘description' meta tag as part of your page in the search.
2. Make use of H1 –H3 tags Keywords :
H1 gets higher priority than H2. So make sure you write keyword rich headings in the order of priority in H1, H2 and H3 title tags. They are used by many crawlers to differentiate important content.
3. Improve the structure of your URLs:
For good search engine optimization of your site, having search engine friendly URLs is highly recommended
4. Keyword Density should not exceed 2-5% :
Although using keywords in the content of your site is very important, try not to repeat keywords just for search engine robots. Keep the keyword density between 2-5% percent, instead of repeating a keyword try to simply use alternative terms that describe the same concept.
5. Use Alt Text for Image Optimization :
Images are very important from a search engine optimization perspective, they need to be optimized properly as well. If you want to know more tips on improving your images.

Most of the times people miss out on the easy basics and concentrate on the 'high end' tools.
You writeup should remind people this thing well

It is almost impossible to draw good volume of website traffic without proper optimization of your website.
No matter how much money you have spent on your website; search engine optimization is a must for the website. Without it all the money you have spent may go in vain.

On Page SEO mainly involves content management. Your content should be error free. Avoid repeating text. Limit your usage of keywords. Use alt tags and Meta tags appropriately.

on-page needs knowledge on both web designing and search engine optimization. Just any normal optimizer cannot perform the on-page optimization, only those, who have adequate knowledge on web designing can apply the on-page optimization techniques.

How to get traffic to the site ...
Is there a rule that says that the first page on google provides traffic ...
First page has over 90% of all traffic on google...
And there is one rule ...
First place on Google has over 50% of all traffic from the first page...
I compare two random sites for targeted keyword...
1. place has over 5000 visitors per day, and 4. places has only 200 visitors per day...
Do not believe your eyes...

Many people think that having a good website is all you need to get tons of visitors. Wrong answer. Getting traffic to your site takes hard work and diligence and is not accomplished overnight.

1. Submit your site to as many search engines as you can. Here are some of the popular ones you can start with:
Alexa AltaVista AllTheWeb AOL Ask
DMOZ ExactSeek Excite GigaBlast Google
What-U-Seek Kanoodle Live Lycos LookSmart
MSN National Directory Yahoo SearchIt WebCrawler
2. Use a favicon.ico - see below.
3. If you have a Christian Website, be sure to submit it to all the Christian Directories. We have a list of about 50 of the most popular Christian Directories here. (sadly the list gets shorter by the month)
4. Have Dynamic content on your site - Message Board, Links Directory, Guest Book, Online Search, Picture Gallery, Quote of the day, News items, Site Search, Links Engine ... It all makes for a more enjoyable experience for your visitors ... and interested visitors come back.
5. Make sure you don't have broken links on your site! There is nothing more annoying when one clicks a link and it does not work. There are hundreds of places you can go on the internet that will check your link validity. Use them.
6. Make sure your META TAGS are done right. Learn how to do this here.
7. Submit your site to as many privately run Link Directories/Search Engines as you can find. These will not generally boost your traffic in any major way but will help to maintain steady stream of qualified visitors.
8. Use Banners with care. See below.
9. Subscribe to the Usenet groups and advertise there. A good place to start is Google Groups
* Be sure to submit your site in appropriate groups!
* Be sure to signup with a backup email or you will get onto every spammers database!
* Be sure you don't SPAM -- only submit a write up of your site once to any given group.
10. Use social networking sites like Twitter, facebook, YouTube, Plaxo, Linkedin and others to get the word out.
