Default reducing spammers

Aside from Akismet and CommentLuv, what other spam filters do you use to reduce spam comments? Which is effective?

Spam, or unsolicited comments, is a major drawback to running a site which allows user interaction. Blogs, forums and even content-driven sites suffer from automated scripts, or bots, which trawl the internet and abuse the user interaction capability of both bespoke and custom written software.

I think there is not a single filter that can stop spammers as they are everywhere. Once they attacked my site and I had a thousand of porn pages which I deleted manually.

I use Akismet to reduce spam comments. It attempts to filter link spam from blog comments and spam TrackBack pings. The filter works by combining information about spam captured on all participating blogs, and then using those spam rules to block future spam.

Send a message via Skype™ to lucasyesher
However in my wordpress blog cms I have a good plugin which automatically removes the spamming comment. It helpful to detect the spammer through their email address.

No, Yahoo doesn't "automatically" block every incoming message unless the sender is in your address book. But my ten years experience with Yahoo email gives me the right to say that they do a pretty good job of blocking spam.

There are quite a few spammers on here who only post links to their sites or even post links to malware. Now one way that Y! prevents link spamming is by issuing error 999.
