Use this tool right here http://www.seologs.com/ip-domains.html
It will tell you how many domains are hosted on your server, which is especially helpful if you are using a virtual account. I have read in the past that sites have gone up in their search engine placement just by getting a server that only had their sites hosted on it.

Wow, according to that tool there are 467 sites hosted on the same IP, Im surprised the server can even handle that many but I guess alot of them probally arent too active.

AffiliateSeeking will become famous soon enough
That's alot of sites. The thing with having that many sites on one service is that alot of them may not be active so the server can handle it, but it only takes 1 or 2 of them to become active and then it is likely to affect the others.

Also, out of all them sites, I would think that there is some that has 1 or 2 badly written scripts that will use more CPU than needed plus bad database optimization meaning their queries taking longer than needed as they are doing more work.

Although saying that I think most shared hosting servers have software in place so that it can keep track on the sites that may suddenly use alot of CPU and then suspend that site or do something so that it doesn't cause the server to crash or the other sites to slow down to badly.

Are you with Servage by any chance? I know that they stack a lot on each server, which is partly why they have strict daily bandwidth restrictions.

No I use Godaddy so its not too surprising that that many sites are on one IP but still I was expecting maybe 200 at the most not 400.

For reliable host providers, it is not a big surprise that they host quite a number of websites under one server. But they employ mechanisms that will prevent server crash because frequent occurence of dowtime is bad for business.

The ip my sites are hosted on also hosts 160 websites, however a server can have multiple ip addresses so this isn’t an effective method of getting the stats for all the sites hosted on a server.

The thing is even if there are only few sites hosted on a server but these are resource hungry sites like proxy sites, definitely they can affect the performance of the server more than the case of a server with hundred sites which are not resource intensive.

Default Multiple IP addresses

Yogesh is right - this really is not an effective tool to determine if a server is overloaded. On the hosting servers I use, my account has a dedicated IP address for my account so that tool will only show the sites that I have created under that account, even though there are other IP addresses running on the same server. In my case, my server only has 16 accounts total so it's never a problem but many hosts oversell their servers heavily and may have serious performance issues.

It is always good to go for a reliable host if you want to have an important site.Beware of incredible prices because these host are surely overselling their account and sooner or later you will be having problem with them.
