Which kind of hosting is better for wordpress? Linux or Windows?

I'm using godaddy linux web hosting build a wordpress blog recently, but a friend of mine told me that if i want to build website with wordpress i should choose windows web hosting at first. Is that true? And how come?

I've bought another hosting from dreamhost, and next week i'll move 5 websites there, linux still, cheaper,

if you are using cms like(wordpress) then you should try to use Linux based server is best for you.

It depends, which platform friendly you are. If you opt for Linux platform there are various free open source software's you can utilize, however, windows supports only those software's which are basically windows compatible or developed by Microsoft Technologies. Thus, Linux would be much better platform for your wordpress hosting.
