Post Selecting a Web Hosting Operating System

While looking for a web hosting provider then one of the first things that you often have to consider is what operating system the server will run on. Different web hosting providers use different operating systems to host the websites.

*Linux - Linux is one of the most widely used operating systems on the Web. It is also widely preferred by the web hosting service providers. This is mostly because it is so cheap to install and get up and running.
*Macintosh - Macintosh web hosting servers are very uncommon. In fact, if you want to host your site on a Macintosh server then you will probably have to look into web hosting your site yourself.
*Unix - Unix is very much alike Linux but still is not as common on web hosting services. This is so because it is more expensive and the hardware is also more specific.
*Windows - Windows is another very common operating system used for Web hosting services, mainly because it has a lot of support.

It really depends on what OS a user is using when they want to have their sites be host by hosting companies. But a typical user will have a Windows and Linux. Because they have many supports and can be easily be used by people. But there are still web hosting companies that allow any kind of operating system that a user use. But try this site, freewebsitemaker.co.uk, they have a list of all hosting sites in the web. They also have reviews on what are the compatibilty of their host to the system that a user use.
