Default Can't Edit

I found misspelled words in my posts earlier today and wanted to edit them after making the post. But the EDIT tool won't work.

The tool does work. When making posts you should check for spelling before and after you post. You and anyone else can edit your posts up untill I think 12 hours after you had written each post.

We have set it so no one can edit any of their posts after 12 hours of the post being written. A few other forums also have this in place including that DP forums.

There are many reasons for having this in place. For example, some one could be selling something where they get alot of people interested, they could then change their first post after a few days so it looks as if they were selling something differently to what they first advertised.

As we have put this feature in place, this means they will not be able to edit their post after 12 hours of writing it. This means they would have to write another post below it instead, and the first post will still be there for proof that they were selling that product or offering that service for that price in the first place.

That is just one reasons for having it in place. We set it for 12 hours as we know that some people would want to edit a post and thought 12 hours would be long enough.

I've just gone and changed it to one day rather than 12 hours. So if you had written you posts within the last 24 hours you should now be able to edit them.

It is an important rule. What I mentioned above is just one of the reasons for having it. There are a few other more important reasons why it's in place. Other forums also has this rule in place because they have to.

What happens is when you click the EDIT, the whole thing hangs. What I do is I click the GO ADVANCE and from there edit my post. Finally, I save everything and that's it.

But if you click EDIT it will take you 30minutes or more and yet nothing happens.

Sorry for this AffiliateSeeking. That's just something I noticed.

Does it do it all the time, everyday? I've been moderating these forums over the last month which has involved me doing many edits on some people's posts and I have not had any issues.

Also, there have been a few other members on this forum that has also done some edits on their posts, they don't seem to have had any issues either.

It could be your browser. What browser are you using? I find that when I use some other forums, one minute they work and next minute they seem to hang just like what you said.

Although saying this, I will look into it.

I don't think I can do much as I'm also using firefox and it works fine for me. I have also seen others do edits on their posts and they seem to have no problems. It must be your browser or computer making it hang or something. I get this happening with my computer / browser sometimes where a site or forums will hang, but I have not experienced it with this forums so far. I will still look into it, but I can't promise anything as I have doubts that it would be the server when it seems to only be happening to you as far as I know.

No problem AffiliateSeeking. I worked in another PC with separate connection today and everything worked perfectly fine from my end here. Perhaps you're right.

I know what you mean by the edit thing now. I have this also happen not with this forum, but with another forum that I use. You press edit, edit your post and then press save and nothing happens. You then have to press the Go Advanced button and then submit it from there.

I think it's an issue with the vbulletin script as I have seen it happen in about 2 - 3 forums that I have used so far, but didn't take much notice of it until today, when it happened again on another board.

Really? Everything's OK with AffiliateSeeking here with me now. That's because I'm using a new PC. I guess there's nothing to worry about this forum.
