How to start a KICKASS affilate program?
I own a gourmet dog bakery and in the process of starting an affilate program. However I want to create a KICKASS program. What should i offer to attract affilates. High commissions, services ect.. Should we do the program inhouse or should we sign with a network. If you're a marketer what would we have to do to get you to join our program? What would we have to offer or do to make our program obtain KICKASS status?

Look first you need to know what exactly an affiliate program is.Why is it done??After that once you start up you will need affiliates to promote your business.Understand their needs expectations and compare it with your own. There a lot you need to understand. So the best advice is you start of as an affiliate and work for a merchant for at least a year.Once you gain experience and understand the practical implications of the trade you wouldn't need any advice as to what is to be done when and how...Good Luck..

A few ways. Ive actually built one from scratch before for a promotional products company. Here is what I did:
1) Create a form that allows affiliates to sign up
2) assign them an affiliate ID
3) let them build links however they want to your products and make sure they include their id. Example: gourmetdogfood.com/ ?id=THEIRID
4) pass the ID through the checkout process in the background
5) also use google analytics to track id's
6) pey your affiliates
Get a test pool of affiliates and dial this system in. Its not too difficult. I say avoid outsourcing it. Good luck!

I would do both an inhouse and network. Maybe start with a network and get a lot of affiliates and then move to an inhouse program to save on fees.

There are services that offer a platform that offers affiliate sign up, membership performance tracking, payment tracking, and so on. You might want to compare rates between services, instead of devising your own, or hiring someone to make one for you.

The affiliate program platform mentioned carries with it periodic payments, so should you want to avail of one, you have to compare features and prices, along with researching on customer satisfaction ratings.

- Low minimum payout freshold
- Good affiliate support
- Many options for linking to your products like a datafeed, banners, etc.
- Good affiliate tacking software that is well known in the affiliate marketing industry

What do you use as a software management system? What are the advantages of doing it yourself vs outsourcing?

It’s better to compare the rates with other services provider before starting your own affiliate program. There are several providers offering various affiliate services.

I would imagine that higher commissions would help you the most.

That sounds a bit unethical, cutting out the hand that held you up..

Besides the basic mechanical stuff, finding affiliates who are onboard with your product is very important. You know, maybe camping and outdoors websites, or wherever your clients are likely to frequent. Second, your program has to make it worthwhile. Basically, they have to feel that the money they make from linking to you is worth the money they are losing by not using the ad space for something else.

If you are an online-merchant and you have not any affiliate-program then you have not maximizing online-presence. There are quite a few affiliate-management products who make the procedure of setting-up and organizing an affiliate-program easy. If you require some extra motivation then try an army of custom-built sales-people promoting your products who only paid if they make sales. That is KICKASS affilate program.
