I decided to give a go at making a forum and see what it takes to run a succesful forum and this is what Ive got so far http://epiphanot.info I am having a real hard time marketing it.

Forums are really a tough go, as there are so many out there. Sometimes it's better to make a forum that caters to a specific niche instead of a general discussion forum, since there are thousands of general discussion forums out there. The one thing I noticed is you don't have your forum monetized at all...no Adsense, no banners, etc. You might want to look into that to make it profitable.

the layout of your forum looks good,,as xenigo said,you have not monetized your site in any way,start your marketing by submitting in good directories first.Then get some good backlinks for ur forum,then ur traffic is bound to increase for sure

Jacob you might want to add an introduction section in your forum, for a general discussion forum it is a must.

Like others said, layout of your forum is quite nice. However I don’t quite like the domain name, for starters I don’t really know what “epipha” means; however I would always recommend a dot com extension for forums since they are easier for people to remember than any other extension.

You need to create specific interest forum so members can join your forum. And then ad "general discusison" category. You need forums to be categorised properly. It looks like plain forums.
Also ad informations to your forum description. It help me getting place in search engine.

I like your site. I presume your using vbulletin? Just make sure to continually installing the newer versions and check there website for help. Should hold you in good stead.

Also install some hightech mods to your forum,that makes it different from other forums just a simple suggestion

Add more gloss to your forum, look a bit plain in its current forum

Also, a light colored (blue, gray) background will look good.

Nice forum, Nice design, Just make a better logo in it. SMF is really great forum software, Best of luck with the forum.

Your presumption would be wrong, its simple machines not vbulletin.

Im trying to install tinyportal to add a little more functionality and will add an introductions forum and better logo.
