web site hosted in the same country as the site target

Hi;

There are some speculations that local search engines might give a ranking boost to a web site hosted in the same country as the site target.
What do you think…it’s true or not?

PLEASE:
I’m looking for personal experience answers not a copy/paste link.

I do not think that hosting site with local host may boost the site ranking. But most try to host with US, UK, Canada hosts.

No, the issue is that on my niche, I am better then other sites with everything… but I steel can't beat them and the only reason after eliminating the causes is only the host. I am in Canada, I have my site host in U.S.A. and my main competitors have their sites in Canada.
