You do not need to do this any longer these days because everyday hundreds of new domains are registered and since their admins have added links to them, so Google plus the other search engines would be finding and indexing them. All you would need to do would be building links for your website and after a short time your web address would be visible when you search Google for that domain.

There is no need to submit your domain to search engines. They have been discovering web sites by following links for a decade and a half. Your time could be better spent building links.

Even if you do submit your URL or submit a sitemap.xml and get indexed, if your site doesn't have any links, it's not likely to rank for any keyword phrase unless it's some super long tail non-competitive keyword phrase that no one searches for. It's like being all dressed up, but you have no where to go. And they might de-index you the next week.

Build links from URLs that are themselves indexed. The search engines will discover your site naturally in due time.

submitting directly to search engines doesn't guarantee you getting high search engine rankings... it only helps your website recognized easily by the search engine spiders for faster indexing of pages... Mostly, submitting to search engines are for new websites only.

You can find some good directories to submit your sites to, such as Google, Yahoo, Dmoz... but it is really hard to get your site listed!

Hi there,

Really there are a few things you should do.

1. Make sure your landing page is optimised for your chosen keywords (No more than 4 BIG keywords).

2. You are registered with Google, Yahoo & Bing webmaster tools Google is 99% of it.

3. Get Google Analytics added to track your keywords and traffic.

4. DO submit it to the search engines via their own URL submitting tools but using point 2 will also do this.

5. DO some link building and ensure that you learn about Anchor Text links.

That should keep you busy until you want to get even deeper in to SEO.

Sorry I have to really disagree!

SEO is not just off page it is 50/50 as if you do a load of off page SEO but your onpage does not match then it is for nothing.

Follow my points above and submit to the directories cunghuong advised of.
