This is normally used in cases of bad publicity to bury a page that is causing annoyance or disruption to a business owner or person. The idea is to promote other web pages above the one with bad publicity so no one visits the page where the bad publicity is.

Can you please elaborate more, what you have posted here. It is very important for us to analyze competitor's site and the links that they are getting but, more over, I just want to know how it will be more helpful for us and mainly for our site to rank on top of search results.

Well it sounds like promoting competitor sites negatively..which I dont personally approve of. Like going on complaints board or things of that nature.

Well haven't hear about this before! Hopefully no one will do it to my site, because it so unethical!

I dont mean to scare you, but hitting your own keywords is important.
For example if your site is ilikedogs dog com
I'm sure you have a list of keywords associated with dogs and the keywords you want to hit..but also include your own keywords..i like dogs.
Because you never know when someone will talk negatively about your site..and some sites like complaints board comes up very high in search results..

but I thin there is bigger chance to get such complains in really competitive niches not like in any random one

They can be really harmful, but bad advertisement is still advertisement
