Default PR5 within one google Update

Has this thing ever happened to you?

I made upto PR5 in just 2 months and in 1 google update only. I had just bought the domain before 2 months of the previous google update. It was a web directory and the only sitewide link I gave to it was from my other PR5 web directory. How did this happen? It sounds weird.

Was it just random? or there was a reason?

I am not an expert in the field of page rank. I do not even believe it serves a purpose and in my opinion, it has no value.

But it does seem odd that your site could rank so high with only one link. This leads me to believe that my theory is correct.

PR has no value because if it can be manipulated so easily, there is no need for it.

But anyway, I realize I haven't answered your question but I have read it only takes one good link to get you some PR.

Hopefully people who are more versed in the subject will come along and answer.

I agree to you wesley. I also find that Pr has no value. It is just a show off when it comes to link sale. What actually matters is SERPS and number of backlinks. People are also checking Page Strength these days.

I don't think so. Not every website with no value reaches PR5 or PR6. I think only good potential websites are able to reach that high PR. So it does actually have a PR. A few sites which I did not develop later on lost its PR and it is now PR0.

I think that PR matters a lot.
