Benefits of dofollow tag??

I know that allowing dofollow blog comments has its own advantages like enahanced traffic, and increased content etc. But this can also have a number of disadvantages to it like rise in the spamming, and passing link juice etc.

My question is whether passing link juice is similar to bleeding page rank form the blog owner or is it possible to pass link juice without affecting the page rank?
