Need help with developing SEO

Hey all,

I am really grateful to you all, and I am trying to keep myself in touch with the SEO progress but am too busy with my own business. A friend of mine asked me for some help with the SEO business. Now his company has some brand recognition all over the world and attracts a lot of links for their content. But their rank in individual cities is appalling.

I was planning for them to come out with a checklist of their products and services. I have never worked on a global scale and am struggling. Does anyone have any suggestions?

This is too vague, can you explain more what he needs, what he cannot accomplish, how he want to accomplish and of course does he afford it (for a very competitive term)?
