Default Content Is Not The King Of SEO

Yes, I know many believe that content is the King of SEO but it is not.

For SEO purposes is Content more important than the Page Title?

For SEO purposes is Content more important than the Header Tag?

For SEO purposes is Content more important than putting the your primary keyword phrase in the domain name?

Or what about this does anyone actually have any information from Google, like maybe a patent application reference, to support the importance of content as it relates to SEO?

Here is what I discovered Google stating about Content.

“Offer quality content and services

Creating compelling and useful content will likely influence your website more than any of the other
factors discussed here. Users know good content when they see it and will likely want to direct other
users to it. This could be through blog posts, social media services, email, forums, or other means.
Organic or word-of-mouth buzz is what helps build your site's reputation with both users and Google,
and it rarely comes without quality content.”

So as I read this excerpt from Google’s SEO Starter Guide Quality content does have an indirect SEO benefit. If you have content worthy of linking too and if people can find your site they just might want to provide you with a useful Do Follow backlink.

Wow, that’s sounds more a mentally challenged like a third cousin than the king of SEO.

What say you?

The statement within quotes itself tells us that content indeed is very important .I do wonder why have a statement like content is not the king made .It is clearly given that users identify when they see a good content so it does play some role to make it the king.

Of course content is important, but as Google indicated here, as best it has an indirect benefit for SEO purposes.

I am a big fan of quality content. But when I am doing SEO it is not a factor. Search Engines index websites that don't grade content.

I have seen many a great website with awesome content that do not rank well because they didn't do basic SEO correctly.

Quality content with relevant and targeted keywords is very important for a site to get ranked.
Google rankings are based on some points (10). out this 10 points content gets the highest priority after the title tags.
At the same time Quality contents brings more visitors to a site.

I think if someone is talking in respect of user than CONTENT is very important. If page quality is not good then what can be done by SEO. Both things go hand in hand. You need to write that much of quality content that SEO techniques can be implemented to increase the traffic.

As previously mentioned here SEO is all about getting your targeted keyword phrases properly indexed and then building links. These links should of course include an anchor text that uses your keyword phrases.

Quality content helps the SEO process only indirectly.

I also agree that only good content for any web site is not good enough for doing well, there are other factors too that matters alot such as back links. Back links are also equally important for a web site.

Well your points are somewhat valid but one cannot deny the value of content in SEO, it does matter. Besides everything you've mentioned above, good content is really important. A website cannot be optimized without good content.

Default Content is nesessary

Yeah i agree and what i have experienced is that if you have good content on your site and you have well maintained the density of your keywords, then your SEM campaign for the keywords you want to promote will bring top ranks on Google and will maintain the results. Along with this word of mouth really helps.

First, let me start off by saying that I will not provide SEO services for a site with poor content or a horrifically bad design. It just doesn't make sense to bring new traffic to a defective website site.

But when I am actually doing SEO I don't think "now its time to work on the contents quality." No, I optimize each page for its targeted keyword phrases both on and off page.

I encourage to the site owner to rewrite their content and use a sales funnel. This has worked very well for both my site and my clients.

In the end whether or not we agree about the connection between content and SEO it really doesn't matter. As long as you have quality content you will do well.

The real rub is what makes content quality!

Well said Gvvg561! To do well a site has to have a number of different elements, good content, well SEO'd and good design. Without all 3 either the site is invisible to search engines, is not worth visiting or impossible to stay on for more than a few minutes as it is so frustrating!

In the absence of high quality pages SEO will not be of much help to your website. Unique content is needed to implement SEO techniques and increase traffic.

Do you have any proof for what you said? It is hard to believe that content is not the king. If your content is not attractive, how can you keep your visitors?

FYI: SEO is all about gaining and maintaining high search rankings. It does not have anything do to with time on a site or conversions.
