Hi,
Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword or phrase appears on a web page compared to the total number of words on the page. In the context of search engine optimization keyword density can be used as a factor in determining whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase.
In the late 1990s, which was the early days of search engines, keyword density was an important factor in how a page was ranked. However, as webmasters discovered this and the implementation of optimum keyword density became widespread, it became a minor factor in the rankings. Search engines began giving priority to other factors that are beyond the direct control of webmasters. Today, the overuse of keywords, a practice called keyword stuffing, will cause a web page to be penalized.

Well, that's a very good explanation about keyword density. As for my contribution, as there are no defined rule whether what is the exact keyword density, when we are writing articles, we are including the keyword that we are optimizing for that article for once every paragraph.

Keyword density is a combination of the number of times a keyword or a keyword phrase, in proportion with other words, appears on a Web page. The more times the keyword appears in relation to the total number of on page words, the greater the overall keyword density. The more times that other words appear, the lower the proportion of keywords, resulting in a lighter keyword density.

Keyword density is best when it is between 4 to 5% and this is acceptable by search engines as well as any article submission websites.
Better to keep it in this range and distribute it in the way that it is looking best with the article and its theme...
Keyword density should be considered in correct manner as if overdone then you are going to get banned by search engines..

I'm agree with the above said. Just to add up, in terms of keywords you need to choose the unique one, What i mean is don't use a keyword that is popularly known. Because this will be a hard time for you because of large number of keywords you can't be able to gain the PR as fast as other. So when choosing keywordyou need to put the rare and unique one.

This tool will analyze your chosen URL and return a table of keyword density values for one-, two-, or three-word key terms. In an attempt to mimic the function of search engine spiders, it will filter out common stop words. It will avoid filtering out stop words in the middle of a term, on the other hand designing with CSS would go through, even though with is a stop word. The perfect keyword density help get higher search engine positions.

I don't think keyword density is very important in SEO. It's important to have your keyphrases on your site below a certain amount. However, backlinks, anchor text, domain age and othe factors are more important.

Simple way to develop site's placement in search engine results is to work on keyword density. Keyword density is ratio of word that is being searched for the keyword against total number of words appearing on web page. If your keyword occurs only once in a page of one thousand words, it has lower keyword density than keyword that occurs four times in a page of similar length.

Greetings!
Keyword Density can be seen as the percentage of times a keyword appears on a page when you compare it to the total number of words on the page.
To work out density of a page is simple:
X = number of times a word appears on the page
Y = number of words on the page
Word Density = X / Y x 100

Keyword density is a measure of the relative frequency of the word in the text expressed as a percentage. For e.g. if a specific word is used 5 times on a page containing 100 words, the keyword density is 5%. If the density of a keyword is too low, the search engine will not pay much attention to it. If the density is too high, the search engine may activate its spam filter.

Keyword density means the ratio of the keyword to the total number of words printed on a given page in a website. In SEO, its importance cannot be underestimated because it could spell the difference between visibility and oblivion.

Keyword density refers to the ratio (percentage) of keywords contained within the total number of indexable words within a web page. The preferred keyword density ratio varies from search engine to search engine. In general, I recommend using a keyword density ratio in the range of 2-8%. You may like to use this real-time keyword analysis tool to help you optimize a web page's keyword density ratio.

The true definition of “keyword density” is the ratio of the word that is being searched for, i.e. the keyword, against the total number of words appearing on a given web page. If your keyword occurs only once or twice in a page of 500 or more words, obviously it has a lower keyword density than a keyword that would occur six or seven times in a page of similar length. keyword density is easy to understand and modify if needed.
