How are your Tweets optimized for SEO?

Let's imagine a new account with zero followers, so traffic from tweets comes not from followers reading your updates, but search engines.

Some questions:
- How do you make your tweets SEO freidnly besides adding keyphrase in them?
- Does time of post and retweets matters in any way?
- Do you ping your tweets (if so is it profile page or whcih one?)
- Anything else?

Same questions for Facebook and other social networks.

I have been looking at this myself. As a user of Twitter for Affiliate Marketing I have noticed that my tweets get picked up a lot of times when I include hashtags such as #affiliate, than if I was just to write a normal tweet without them.
I have tested this by writing with a hashtag then waiting a couple hours, coming back to Twitter copying and pasting that tweet directly into Google and seeing what results are returned. Usually there will be a few websites that pick it up. Most of them for me though do not return a great deal of traffic. I usually get a maximum of 10 visitors for every tweet I do.
Days later though you will notice the odd visitor to your website from one of these referrers that picked up your tweet but it is not constant or steady traffic, just one or two every couple of days.

Correct, I'm agree with ben. I also used to do that, but it stay only for a couple of days. What stays longer for link would be article writing, press release submission and also forum and blogs.

Well, it's a good idea to include those hash tags in your every twitter tweets. They can be one of the important factors that Google picks when including tweets in the search results.

I guess its very hard running a site with no followers.. In that case tweets come in very handy.! so that the site is seen on search results..

My favorite thing about twitter is that you are able to reach those people who need your services without having to do too much. Including popular hash tags in the tweets can give the business a lot of exposure.

In Twitter the most important thing is Tweets. You need to get Tweets and then adding retweets is more beneficial. But the Retweets should be made from quality accounts and not from any spammy ones otherwise it will not be considered.

By quality it means that they should be added from accounts which has lesser number of following and huge number of followers.

The links from Twitter are no-follow but they will be countable if the account is really good and of quality one.
