Greetings!

The Best SEO tool is the Google Adwords Keyword tool. You use it to figure out what people are searching for since Google accounts for over 60% of all SEO traffic.

A few tips:

2. Store your keywords using Excel Spreadsheets on Google Docs.
3. ALWAYS research keywords before posting any content.

It really depends if you want Free SEO tools or you want to pay for them. If you are going for free tools then I would suggest the Google Keyword Tool or Alexas Website Information tool. Personally I am a big fan of Market Samurai when searching for competition on certain keywords etc.

Google keyword tool sucks. MarketSamurai is way better.
For backlink check I use xinureturns or backlinkwatcher.

How long does backlinkwatch take to return results usually? My browser window continually freezes whenever I have tried to use this.
