Default What is best for SEO? Content or links?

My new website is on page 1 for its keyword after about 4 weeks. It made page 2 after 2 weeks. I added new content and posted links.

Could I have achieved page 1 without links? Is content alone enough?

Posting links gets really boring...

I think content and Backlinks both are equally important for a site. Content is important from the traffic view point and backlinks are important for PR and Visibility of the site.

the on page and off page activities goes hand in hand and there are rare cases where even after stopping one of the techniques also you will be able to rank. These phenomenon you can see with the .Gov and .edu sites, where only onpage activity is done.

I say that both are really important factors. You have to make your site worthy for your visitors by providing them with rich, accurate contents, and you also have to make exposure for your website by building backlinks.

I've been reading a lot of lines like this nowadays, but they still make sense. So I will also say, "Content is King, Link is Queen", something like that..

I think conent is the king so it has its own value that is very true and getting links from some relevant site can be also useful to the site. So the conclusion is that they both are important on their side.

Both are very important. In order for your content to be easily known, put a links. In order for your links to have a value, put a content.

I think both are useful you can not compare both because content is consider as on page changes where getting links consider to be off page activities

I have to agree with the majority, both content and linking are very important.
You can have the best content on the planet but with zero incoming links you will get zero traffic.
So I have to say, one without the other is useless.

in my opinion, content is more important than seo, external link also important,if your on-page seo is do well, also could have a good rank on search engines.
