Perma Backlinks

I've heard a lot of SEO experts talk about permanent backlinks. But are there really such things? Free url submission sites only provide links for a year, and most social bookmarking site will delete blogs that have been idle for a long period of time. Websites do close down and of course erases all your links to them. So when they say "permanent" what are they really implying to?

I think they are talking about the URL that always been a points to the same piece of web content. Web pages that appear for a limited time at their main URL, such as web logs or news sites, often display an alternative, permanent link, also readers can quote, bookmark, or link to this URL in order to refer to a particular item, rather than the page displaying the latest item.

a permanent link called that you are getting links from one or two anchor text always like articles, press release, paid directory for permanent.

Will if you want to have a permanent back links.. make a lot of quality contents (not spun) and submit it to web 2.0 properties..do a social bookmarkings, get the rss feeds and do rss submissions, then ping..

There are some blog pages on which you can place your link. The link will not be deleted. You can also go for paid links from high PR sites.

You can probably create your own blog and can update it on a regular basis, this will create a permanent link with every post you make on your blog and as it is your own blog the link will always be permanent. Only thing is you will need a lot of unique content for updates.

I have only come across SEOTagWriter.com which helps you to get a permanent one way link from Technorati tag page.
