Yes, some of site has site map text link, but even though it doesn't have any site map text link still your site can be found easily by search engine because site maps can improve search engine optimization of a site by making sure that all the pages can be found. This is especially important if a site uses a dynamic access to content such as Adobe Flash or JavaScript menus that do not include HTML links.

Having a site map text link is a good process. Site map are of two types and we use text link for sitemap.html and we do not use any link for sitemap.xml.

Yes, sitemap.xml do have text links in them. They are necessary as they are the only best way to index your website in search engines.
