I don't buy links, actually its because i understand the risk that can be taken, where it can be a result of links to a web spammers or bad neighborhoods on the web, and it is also under Goolge policies http://www.google.com/support/webmas...y?answer=66356

If you buy links, Google wants you to make sure those links are "nofollow". That said, I've seen a ton of sites with purchased links rank well in highly competitive niches for a long time, so who knows.
Try it out and see what happens, but I wouldn't do it with a business-critical site.

Buying link is a good option but why don't you hiire someone to do link building for you.It is much cheaper and you can track your progress .

Buying links is not bad! It can be good for your site but it costs a lot! With the same amount of money you can hire someone to do link building for you, it will be better.

I have never purchased links and do not plan to ever purchase them.
I would advise extreme caution to anyone considering it, yes it can be a quick fix to a long term problem, but if Google finds out you risk your site being sandboxed or banned forever.
For me, I work on SEO for a real business so that simply isn't an option.

buying links is against Google's TOS! Google will penalize you for that (by reduction of your PR or even removing you site from index). There are a lot of ways to create backlinks without paying for them.

According to Google, bought links must use a “nofollow” tag in the code to ensure it is clear to the search engine that the link should not be used for ranking. Furthermore, Google requests the site to provide full disclosure of paid links. SO, it is not a very useful technique in terms of improving your search ranking.
Links can be still considered valuable if one consideres their potential of directing visitors to a site. Controlling the anchor text helps with branding, but should not be an attempt to rank for something the site is not authoritative for.

Buying links can be extremely profitable if done right. You just have to find the right links to buy at the right price.
I recommend starting with link building first (without buying) and then use buying links if you need it to give you that extra boost to the top.
