basically it helps in marketing of website and gives traffic with

I do think social media is important for SEO, but more so with customer retention and word of mouth marketing.

For SEO purposes your Twitter account gains significant PR over time (mine is a PR 5 after 6 months) and your FB company fan page does the same.
