Well can you tell that it is quite a naughty stuff to do on internet. If you are promoting your website through these techniques let me tell you Google is very strict on these. It penalize your website and drop down the ranking of your website.

And if you want to do it just for fun then there are many constructive things for the fun.

Never have done anything like that. I'm not saying it wouldn't work, but in competitive niche's it would be easier to build your site up than to attack 10-15 competitors.

Not very moral or ethical either.

I don't bother doing such stuffs. Because we all know how much advanced G is. They have every way to detect the problems and what way to deal with them.

Also i think its complete waste of time.

no google not recognize this types of stuff. They index only selective pages. if you spamming on other site with you competitor url its wasting of your time.

Its really very unethical to do like that, instead put those efforts to build your site.it fetches really good results for you.
