Default Will it make any difference?

I was wondering if it makes any difference for SEO if I register a .com or .net or .org. Would that effect my website, for example .com is more worth it for SEO? Or it would not make any difference for Search Engines if it is a .com or a .net or anything else?

Thanks for your help.

I dont think it makes a difference as my .org out ranks the equivalent .com, I think the .tld only matters in users heads not computers, .com's sound more professional then .info, so the first thing a user will type to find the business is business.com but this is changing now thanks to google. Statistics show even if someone knows the url theyll still type it in google.

I have never believed that any extension over another helps in SEO. I know all the gurus promote it but I have proved over and over again, that I can use a completely non-descript domain and get it indexed immediately and get in the top positions.

Now I am not talking any black hat methods here or anything out of the ordinary. Just plain good common sense - meta tags, descriptions, good articles. The topic itself and the validation from other sources in my niche has enabled me to still compete favorably.

I personally do not think the domain name falls anywhere in there.

BUT, I know plenty of people will come and refute that. To each his own

No it does not makes a difference if the domain extension is a .com ,.net or .org .The only thing that Search engines notice is the content. If you have good content you will have a good ranking.

That is great because I have a .INFO domain and I thought that it would be harder to rank high, well it's a blog actually and I write about my service etc.. it's mainly for customers but ranking high in google does no harm! .. so I still have a chance right?!

No domain extension doesn't effect search engine ranking but i would suggest you to go for a .com domain as it is most commonly used extension. Many times clients don't remember that it was .info or .org and they simply type .com.You may loose your customers. It's always better to go for .com domain

Yes I know about that issue, but as for me (because of the traffic I need) the extension would not make much difference, because customers will come either from Google or directly from me. So they don't actually need to know the extension.

So you are saying that it effects? Now I'm really confused But you said STRONG keywords and content..right? So my website is less then two weeks old and I'm already getting visits from Google.. is that strong enough?

Hi,

It does'nt make any difference whether your website related .com, .net or .org. Keywords are always important for every website. Just select your appropriate keywords

Thanks

Yes, according to me it doesn't make any difference and it just depends on the quality content. As far as I know, .org domain is very good and google give preference to this.

I have seen that, .org and .gov domains are very helpful in getting links, I mean, people who are doing SEO knows the importance of these domains and how it is beneficial in getting quality links.
