Default LONG TAIL keyword phrase

It's funny how things become almost cult-like or faddish. Years ago when the one word domains were all taken up and it was hard to get a position in the first few pages of the search engines, everyone found that they needed to work on a string of words that were less broad in context.

For example, no point in typing in weddings. You needed a specific niche or set of words to get what you were looking for.

Now all the gurus are calling it "LONG TAIL keyword phrase". This is nothing new, just a fancy title for something we knew and did a long, long time ago.

It might be an old fad, but it certainly holds true. Almost all the people I know (novice web users) use proper queries rather than one or two keywords.

Long tail keywords are those three and four keyword phrases which are very, very specific to whatever you are selling. You see, whenever a customer uses a highly specific search phrase, they tend to be looking for exactly what they are actually going to buy. In virtually every case, such very specific searches are far more likely to convert to sales than general generic searches that tend to be geared more toward the type of research that consumers typically do prior to making a buying decision.

And why so many people still chasing those short domain names? Cost thousands of dollars? And though something still the same, Google has changed its algorithm to the "OLD" time.
