Default Best SEO advice:

What i did will sound pretty bad. But i went through the world records book for the most highly searched words on the internet and then posted them on my sites. It lead to increased traffic. The words ranged from Paris Hilton, to Orlando Bloom etc etc.

Did anyone do this?

Well at the outset, the idea sounds very creative. Thinking out of the box.

But I guess the more important point is - did you do something useful with those words. Like write an article or provide information on it. Or were the words just a way of keyword spamming.

With your increased traffic, did you also see an increase in sales?

Just adding words to your site isn’t going to do any good; a lot of people try to target the high traffic keywords and it just piles up the search results without any significant traffic for most sites, for instance keyword Paris Hilton brings up 48,300,000 results on google. How many pages do you think people would go through to find things about Paris?

It doesnt sound too good that just by adding all frequent keywords could get you traffic but the usage of the keywords in your content can bring you the traffic instead your assumption is wrong upto my my knowledge that just by adding all keywords got you the traffic instead be a;larmed if they found your spamming they may throw you out and it is difficult to be included again.

There are a number of measurements that can be used when determining how good a keyword might be:
* Search volume (high or low)
* KEI
* Number of search results for a keyword phrase
* Number of search results that use the phrase in the title
* Whether a competitor uses a particular phrase
* etc.
Looking at keywords in terms of difficulty is great for having realistic expectation of how soon you might be able to displace other sites ranking well for them, but it won’t tell you if your keyword is a good keyword for you. Same with looking to see if your competitor uses that term. For all you know they haven’t done their research yet.All of the information above is useful within context, but there are really only three things that truly matter. You want:# Keywords that target your audience
# Keywords that get traffic
# Keywords that get conversions
You can find and optimize for a lot of keywords that will perform well in one or two of these areas, but the BEST keywords are those satisfy all three requirements. Anything less won’t do.You can target your audience with low traffic keywords - but your conversion rates will be low.You can get traffic that doesn’t convert - but sales rates will be low.You can get conversions by targeting low traffic keywords - but your traffic rates will be low.You can target your audience with poor converting keywords - but your sales will suffer.You can get traffic without targeting your audience - but your conversions will suffer.You can get conversions without targeting your audience - but your traffic will suffer.The best keywords ever are keywords that you have determined to be relevant and have tested to get results. Nothing else really matters.

If your site is about Paris Hilton and other celebrities, then great move.

If your site is about the Xbox 360, then it's a bad move. Like marketraisecorp said, stick with relevant keywords.

Just be wary if you don't have any relevant content for the mentioned keywords at this might backfire on you.
