No Follow tricks- how's it done and does it work?

Will someone please explain the concept of 'no follow' links and how I can use them on my site?

I've been told I can use this technique to control where my traffic flows to. is this true?

Nofollow is just an attribute for anchor tag that you are supposed to use for hyperlinks on your website that you do not trust. Typically used for blog comments, guest book entries as well as for paid advertising.

You can use nofollow to ensure that page rank juice is not passed to websites that you link to. But I don't think it has anything to do with traffic.

nofollow is a google concept. Despite the name, what it actually means to the google algorithm is 'don't pass pagerank down that link'. It was an attempt to provide a way for site owners to combat linkspammers by making it pointless for them to spam your site just to get a backlink.

Nofollow attribute means PR juice is not passed towards your site and sometimes you can get some traffic from it..
