Default SEO for a forum

Hi

Has anyone got any specific advice when trying to optimise a forum with search engines?

Just use the same principle for seo of a website. Submit to all directories, search engines etc. Let forum posters use signatures as they leave backlinks into telling others about available links.

Install a google and yahoo sitemap plugin and submit those sitemaps to yahoo and google. I feel this is the most important thing while optimizing a forum for search engine, because search engines have a little bit of a problem while trying to crawl a forum.

Yes you are right as this is a great mod for smf as it changes the url from the php session id.I think that all major forums such as vbulletin and phpbb have these kind of mods that need to be installed to facilitate the index process.
