You will need to select the correct keyword for your website and place it in your signature.

i would say it is really a big help in boosting up you ranking and visits if you post on forums, and yes i would agree that you should also put some links on you signature that would direct to your Site,

If the forums are dofollow, yes... it's one of the best in both traffic and seo..

I have done the research... so here it is.. find (rel="nofollow") in to the site code by doing View Source. If its there it is a nofollow site or you can put the Greasemonkey type script, add-ons to make it more easier.

Its true that Forum posting is a Black Hat method. Inserting links in the post and spamming is illegal. But sticking to the rules of the forums and putting the links in the signature is not illegal.

What do you people think about it?

Just keep in mind that if you are doing forum posting, don't just post, help others and stick to the rules. This will help to make your profile strong.

although forum posting is helpful in SEO, you still need to pick the right forums that is relevant to your website in order to gain your targeted traffic and also, you need to check whether the admin allow sig link for newbies, but its better to build reputation in a few forums in order for people to trust you and click on your sig..
