Link farms are built for the sole purpose of artificially increasing the number of inbound links to a website to increase that site index ranking in the search engines. An illegal link farm is a form of search engine spam and is used to trick search engines into giving a website a higher ranking (as a result of the inbound link from the link-farm) for a particular keyword then the website merits on its own. These kinds of sites are already penalized by the search engines and bear no Pagerank or weight. Adding a link to your website on a link farm, can your site to be penalized by the search engines as well.

Well is a quite good and quick way of getting back-links and traffic to your site and thus improve your rankings but... It is considered to be a black-hat SEO and has bad effects on rankings in long term SEO.

As link farm is simply a website or web page that contains number of hyper links, These link have no categories no relation and no grouping. This type of link building is consider as Spam by search engine. I think it's not a good idea to use this black hat techniques because it can give you the lots of inbound link but not real visitors.
