Good SEO ranking without backlinks?

Hello Everyone,
I was just reading an e-book in which the author states that with themed content you can rank well in Google without the need of buildings backlinks. I was wondering if this is true or if I am wasting my time just writing themed articles without building any backlink to the pages....

It is possible and the right method to get Google's attention , but the only concern is time that takes in this procedure of writing high quality content and then waiting ,Backlinks are not the only way but it is used to bypass the work load that is required in writing and posting original high quality content. So I would advise you keep on building link on good high PR sites at the mean time focus on your content.

It depends how competitive the field is. If you're going after a generic topic that has lots of competition, you're going to struggle, no matter what strategies you use, but you'll certainly need to work harder at it.

Its not necessary that you need to build backlinks. If you have a good reputation and you are adding something valuable, websites will link to you automatically.

It depends on the content of your site and the on-page factors of the site. As far as i know you have to build links to rank well but with quality and themed content you can rank well with less numbers of links.

It depends on the competition of the keywords. If Its medium and low competition keyword It can rank due to content itself. By the way, if you are producing quality content promote it. People like to share useful and good quality content which will provide lots of back links without much effort.

Even i agree your site can be ranked even without the backlinks. But for that your site should have good quality content and should be made seo friendly. I have seen very less example of this type of sites.
