Page Rank is not a traffic source. Basically it describes how effective is this website for the users. Higher pr means higher reputation of the website and less pr means less reputation of the website.

PR is only some indicator of your site link popularity and authority in Google eyes

PR is important! But it is not your main goal. First you need to build a unique website with great content. Then you must start getting backlinks from websites that are best quality!

Ranking is always important rather than anything else.

PR is still considered to be a factor evaluated by Google to give websites their ranks and naturally, if your site is powered by strong links and has a high PR score, it can perform in a nice way online. Of course PageRank alone will not lead to increase in web traffic shares or improved rankings online and you can find a lot of top PR websites with low rankings. Instead of focusing too much on PR, try building better links for your site to rank well.

If you take a look at articles written by experts and admins of reputable web marketing companies, you will notice that PR is one of tens of factors examined by Google to give proper positions and ranks to domains online and it is possible and in fact highly recommended to gather one-way links from quality sources which have high PR numbers. Although as mentioned, even some quality links may come from low PR spots.

Pagerank is one of the 200+ factors Google counts while ranking but it is not the DECIDING factor.
PR is no way related to traffic, its a performance metric!
You need to get quality backlinks in order to get PR.
Major reason for low traffic can be poor optimization of website and absence on social media channels. You need to promote your website on social media channels in order to pull traffic. Here are four killer tips from Matt Cutts himself

Traffic when your starting out as a new blog can and will be very difficult to get. You have not much content and not many people will know about your website. Darn it! So, you go in search for 'traffic' on the web and come across people saying these are the best ways of getting traffic:

- Searching engine submission
- Search engines
- Social websites
- Advertising
- Commenting on forums
- Backlinking
