To what extent can a single page website be optimized? A single page website will not deliver a good user experience.
A single page website is of no benefit to users as not much information can be grabbed from a single page.
Single page websites rarely survive in rankings and therefore you should integrate blogs or articles so as to engage the user in some activity. You can also add more content to your website and split your pages for a good user experience.
Moreover, you haven’t provided any information regarding your website.

Google will not consider it ranking higher due to shallow amount of content. As C Rebecca said above , integrate it with blog or site.

You can optimize a single page website using SEO .It is same as to optimize website having more pages.But it is difficult to generate high traffic and good rank for website having single page.It will be better if a site has more pages.

I usually do it with backlinks and content optimization. Like bookmarks, forum post, article submission and so on.

I would recommend moving your site over to the WordPress content management system. Then you can use a WordPress plugin such as SEOPressor in order to get the best on-page optimization.

Optimize a single page website is same as optimize website having more pages.But it is difficult to generate good traffic for singlepage website.

The best way to optimize a single page website is using On-Page optimization. Get the meta tags and meta description on your site and than regularly keep doing off page optimization. By this way you can get maximum backlinks and Google won't treat it as spamming.
While performing off page optimization use 1-2 keyword to avoid over stuffing of keywords.

You can optimize a single web page using SEO. It 'the same as optimizing a website is more pages.But is difficult to produce a high traffic site and a good investment to make a page.It is better, if the site has multiple pages.

If your website contains only a few pages or just one as you have mentioned, you can study a few books and articles about your web subject and then try to write informative contents that clearly cover the points and then publish them on your site, via addition of new HTML pages.
