What is Better Java or PHP

Which is the best Programming Language to start with, i am aware about C programming and C++ Programming, and have basic knowledge of Java also, but Java i cant prefer to make whole website, i think PHP is better for website development as compared to Java.Can any one Suggest me

Java is better compared to php but if you are a beginner than must start with php. Java is hard to learn.

For data manipulation you use PHP.For visual and behavioral effects you use JavaScript.So you can't really say which one is better because they have different uses.

Then php is best option for you.you can also use html with that.

If you want to create one simple or good looking website so PHP is best, but if you want to use in Flash effect so Java has good features for that.

I think Java is better than PHP, because PHP is open source and cannot give the security. While java is product of Sun Microsystems. Java is more secure and platform independent. Once code is generated in java then you can run it on any platform. In Java you have to use the OOPS concepts so it is easy to learn. The programs are run direct from the source code.

Java and PHP both are Totally open source programing language.
But PHP is better then java because PHP is very easy to learn and looks are very nice.but java is very hard language it's not a easy.So PHP is better then java.
