US Dollar Cheques clearance with Indian Banks ?

Hey Guys,
I have finally got my $$$'s cheque from this affiliate company(payable at an International Bank in U.S) and Now I want to ask is how long does it takes for these American cheques for clearance in Indian banks & how much is the fees charged since it is an International cheque !

I spoke with HDFC in morning & they told me it will take over 21 working days and 500RS fees, so can someone please share their experience on the same.
