Default ' PPC Interview questions - Please share your views '

Hi Guys,

few weeks ago I gave an interview for Junior PPC position but was rejected. I think it might be bcoz of my Visa status in UK. I just got my HSMP status and just out of curiosity I want to know that if it's my visa status or were my answers wrong? I think this is the best place to share and your reply to wrong questions would be so much appreciated. I really felt bad when I lost this job as I thought I did well in interview.

1. Can you describe page rank algorithm in two lines?

A) Page rank algorithm helps search engines to realize the value of a page. It ranks your website on basis of quality links it has

2. How can you write a better Ad text for a campaign? What do you understand by quality score? What's it's importance?

A) An ad text should attract attention. It should be relevant to page keyword and catchy. Quality score is the score attained by keyword/s used for your campaign. The higher the quality score, the lower you pay search engine when someone clicks on it and better if performs.

3.) What kind of quality score you've been achieving in your campaigns? We have keywords having score as 5 but they perform well and generate sales. Should we delete that and look for new keyword or should we leave it like that?

A) 7 -8 . You can write multiple ad's and see which ad perform well on that particular keyword. Since the keyword is generating hits and most importantly sales, you shouldn't delete it all.

4.) How can you improve conversion rates?

A) Creating and testing campaign with different keywords and choosing ones that perform well. Writing multiple advertisements for keyword/s.

5.) How will you optimize a client's campaign?

A) By making him pay less for a keyword click. This can be done by increasing quality score which I explained before.

6.) How will you ensure that ROI of a client's campaign is maximized ? How can you prove to company that you are better that previous consultant who left the company?

A) If I can give a client more hits for his money then previous consultant was doing, it might prove that I am doing better job. ROI depends on many factors - Quality score, Hits and sale generated through a hit.

7.) What is good : - 10 sales out of 100 hits for a campaign or 10 sales out of 300 hits for a campaign ? Assume that in both cases you are spending £85 .Think and answer !

A). Well if we take consideration of ROI, I think it's better when we can get 10 sales out of 100.

But as you mentioned above that in both cases you spent just £85 to achieve it. I will say that it's better to have 10 sales out of 300. At least client is making same profit + 200 extra hits + new potential customers . This might increase sales sooner or later.

8.) Why should we take you ?

A) I think I'll fit for junior PPC role and is keen to learn new techniques. I love online marketing but never got chance to get into it properly. I think my basics are clear.

9.) One last question, do you understand analytics ? what's the benefit of information in analytics?

A) Google analytics can tell you the number of total hits you a re driving to your website. It also tells you geographically from where you are getting hits. It's a useful tool that helps you a lot when you optimize campaigns.

Thanks,

Maddy!
