One of the biggest problems in online business is figuring out how to get legal. I can't really speak about other countries, but here in the US if you own a sales based website you should be taxing customers you sell to in-state. Therefore, you have to register for a DBA (Doing Business As). I learned this from free ebooks provided at worldwidebrands.com.
The problem I am having now though it the filing for a DBA. I have the form but some of the stuff doesn't make sense and I want to do it properly the first time. Does anyone know of any inexpensive filing services for a DBA?
If you really have questions I would personally use a tax attorney or an accountant for questions on getting legal. You might find that registering as an LLC may be the way to go to protect yourself. Without knowing your sales volume it's hard to answer, but services do very little for you and it's worth the extra money to know you are paying the least amount of takes and protecting yourself, and your property, from lawsuits.
