Have a look at Joomla as well I think it is a great tool however you need a good knowledge of CSS to get the most out of it.

Be careful with WP plugins, adding to much can also kill your server, especially when you get loads of visitors.

CMS is Content Management System.It is the collection of procedures used to manage work flow in a collaborative environment. These procedures can be manual or computer-based. The procedures are designed to do the following:

* Allow for a large number of people to contribute to and share stored data
* Control access to data, based on user roles i.e the user can view, edit and publish the data.
* Aid in easy storage and retrieval of data
* Reduce repetitive duplicate input
* Improve the ease of report writing
* Improve communication between users

In a CMS, any type of Date like documents, movies, pictures, phone numbers, scientific data, and so forth can be used. CMS is mostly used for storing, controlling, revising, semantically enriching, and publishing documentation. Serving as a central repository, the CMS increases the version level of new updates to an already existing file. Version control is one of the primary advantages of a CMS.

The various type of CMS package available in market are Magento, Joomla, Drupal, Wordpress etc

I agree with christopher's answer.

Content Management System (CMS) is a computer-based system that allows posting, modifying, and changing articles as well as site servicing from a main page. It provides a selection of techniques used to handle work circulation in a collaborative atmosphere. These techniques can be manual or computer-based.
