Default Anyone using audacity

I am looking for a software to record live speech in Mp3 format.I have heard from a friend that audacity is a good one.
Anyone had personal experience with it?Any other alternatives?

Hi Josh

I used it once to put sound onto an animation video blurb on a front page, it seemed ok and was quite easy to use. I am not sure if it was my voice or the mike but the first take didn't sound that great. I was able to make it useable with the audacity tools and it didn't take too long.

I am sure there are some expensive whizz-bang products out there better but it would be a good place to start.

Bertie

Default Great for final editing but...

Audacity is a great program. i use it for most of my audio editing. If all you are looking to do is do some voice recording into MP3 format, there are much simpler voice recording tools that will do that for you. I am not sure what OS you are using, but it should not be too hard to track down one for your platform. I use "Sound Recorder" on my Ubuntu system. Not a very flashy name, but it records sounds. It just does. it sounds like you need an ' it just does" type of program.
