Flash or animated GIF
I'm just curious. For your website, which do you prefer for your animated image, FLASH or GIF? Flash seems to be more attractive if properly done.

Flash looks much better. I have seen some very nicely designed sites using flash, the only downfall is that not everyone has broadband or a fast internet connection as of yet and flash can take quite a while to load up on your site if it's a big flash file.

Flash looks much better than animated Gifs and it allows much more functionality, Ive yet to see an entire site made out of an animated Gifs or even a movie in gif. So really they arent even competitors.

I have to agree that Flash is better. But you still have to be careful about not using too much animation. Some of these flash sites give me a headache! A little can go a long way, and it's easy to overdo it!

Flash is definitely better, but usually I don’t bother using either, since it just eats up extra bandwidth and unless you are aiming to build a funky site, it isn’t really needed.

I agree that flash takes up more bandwidth. If you make a site so that you can make a profit out of it from using ads then flash is not really a good idea especially if you have alot of it (maybe a bit is alright, but I prefer not to use it at all). Afterall you are trying to make a profit and don't really want to spend all of your income on bandwidth. Plus the time that it can take to load your site with flash can actually loose you quite a few visitors before they even see the fully loaded site, especially if the users are still on dail-up which many people still are.

I prefer Flash in my case because of my site's theme. However, whenever possible use GIFs, as those load up much quicker, and can be less of a pain on slower connections.

Flash always looks better in my opinion, but I would go with an animated GIF instead, less effort, less bandwidth, and easier for users with a slower connection to view.

Well it all depends upon the kind of site you are doing. If you are interested in SEO type of site, then Flash will be out of place.
Generally, Flash appeals to the amateur surfer.

Flash site load slower so user like me those having dial up connection really get irritate and look for other site. Use of flash to small extent is ok. But if you use flash for whole site it's decreases user number somewhat smaller. If you are using flash only for designing then better to go for gif.

Agreed. Complete flash based sites are only suitable for celebrity oriented sites, or when you know that your audience wants to see the eye candy.

Flash images are overall better that the GIF's and the Flash program also has a lot of flexibility in it. The only problem with flash images is that it is longer to load than GIF images

Yeah, Flash is way more professional-looking and a lot more flexible, but as was said above, not everyone has broadband .. yet.. Animated Gifs serve their purpose in certain cases though

Flash is better than animated GIFs. But it takes too much time to load on slower connections.
Another thing is that if the webmaster has hosted the site in some server where there is some monthly bandwidth limit, it quickly exceeds the limit.
